20 Companies Going All Out for Pride Month
June 1st is the start of Pride month! It marks the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.
The Stonewall Riots weren’t the first time people stood up for equality, but it’s the most well-known in America.
Them is an online magazine platform for the LGBTQ+ community and they published a great piece on what Pride Month is. It’s important to stay educated and learn so together we can continue to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Love is love and deserves to be celebrated!
Here are 20 companies that have come out with a 2021 Pride line. It’s safe to say I’m obsessed and am excited to see the advocacy they do all June.
- Hempz– I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cuter lotion before. With each purchase, Hempz is donating to Resource Center, an LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS organization in North Texas.
- Doc Martens– They gave a rainbow twist to their classic boots. They’ve vowed to donate a $100,000 donation to The Trevor Project and partner with them all year. The Trevor Project is a youth-centered LGBTQ+ organization aiming to reduce suicide rates.
- Adidas– They’ve covered all of their bases and included Pride merch for the whole family, including toddlers! Between their bucket hats and sneakers, it’ll be hard to pick!
- UGG– Their slipper slide-ons are stunning. They have various representations of pride flags and include uni-sex sizing for all of their pieces.
- TOMS– With plenty of options you’ll be sure to find one that you love. With each purchase, TOMS will donate to grassroot organizations that support LGBTQ+ youth.
- Crocs– They featured various employees with their partners to hear what they have to say about LGBTQ+ pride. Crocs have also donated to GLAAD, which is a social media advocacy organization to help accelerate LGBTQ+ acceptance.
- Skittles– They ditched their typical rainbow branding and went colorless in support of the LGBTQ+ community. For every pride pack sold they are donating $1 to GLAAD.
- Starbucks– I have been searching for this cup at all of my local Starbucks locations and am dying to see it in person. The link brings you to the story of the cup designer and is a great read.
- Vans– They are donating $200,000 total to four different LGBTQ+ support organizations globally. One is GLSEN; they provide support to create a safe and secure school experience regardless of gender or sexual orientation. The other organizations are Casa 1, Where Love is Illegal, and Tokyo Rainbow Pride Organizations.
- Urban Outfitters– Their pride line is nothing short of amazing. Along with clothes they also have a book, The Little Book of Pride: The History, the People, the Parades by Lewis Laney, to help educate others on what pride truly is.
- Pottery Barn– The house decor is 10/10 and is simply a necessity. 25% of each pride decor item will be donated to The Trevor Project.
- Old Navy– They are going above and beyond by donating 1 million dollars to Boys and Girls Club art programs all over America. They have also collaborated with Edward Granger, an artist from Brooklyn, to create Project WE t-shirts.
- Calvin Klein– Their pride campaign is breathtaking. They are currently donating and partnering with two organizations, The Trevor Project and Transgender Legal Defense & education fund.
- Hollister– Their pride line was co-created with student activists at GLSEN. Along with collaborating with them they also are donating $250,000 to help make schools K-12 a more inclusive learning space.
- Reebok– They’ve partnered with the Sylvia Rivera Law Project. They serve low-income or people of color who are transgender, intersex, and/or gender non-conforming by providing legal aid and participate in social justice campaigns.
- Disney– They’ve created a separate website, Rainbow Disney Project, to learn more about their pride collection and LGBTQ+ support efforts. They’ve partnered and donated to 11 organizations globally! Some of the organizations are located in Spain, Ireland, the UK, Italy, Argentina, Brazil, America, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, France, Australia, and Japan.
- PINK– Besides the cute underwear, they have also pledged to donate $100,000 to Campus Pride. They’re an organization determined to create safer college environments.
- Versace– While they do constantly provide some boujee fashion they are also donating a percentage of each purchase to two organizations, Pride Live and Arcigay. Pride Live is located in America and develops campaigns as well as social media advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community. Arcigay is the first and biggest LGBTQ+ rights organization in Italy and frequently protests the Vatican’s view on homosexuality.
- Lokai– There are two bracelet options available, both are extremely cute in my opinion. For each bracelet sold Lokai will donate $1 to The Trevor Project.
- Coach– Along with the creation of their stunning pride purses they have also donated to four organizations: The Hetrick-Martin Institute (Coach’s long-standing partner), Albert Kennedy Trust, as well as two new partners Point Foundation and CenterLink Community of LGBTQ Centers. Hetrick-Martin Institute provides resources and support to LGBTQ+ youth (13-24.) Albert Kennedy Trust is located in England and provides help to homeless LGBTQ+ youth and those in hostile homes. Point Foundation provides financial aid and scholarships to LGBTQ+ youth. CenterLink Community of LGBTQ Centers aims to develop strong community centers and programs.
